Rara is the largest lake of Nepal, located on west reason. After seeing lots of beautiful photos and reading adventurous trip people have taken, we decided to reach there on the vacation of Dashain.
It is located at Mugu District of Mid-Western Development Reason. Mugu is Himalayan reason and heavy snow covers the area during winter.
(took a bus to Mugu, which will carry us for next 3 days)
Itinerary via public travel
Day 1) Kathmandu to Nepalgunj on Night Bus(14hrs bus ride)
Day 2) Nepalgunj to Baddichour, Surkhet (3hrs bus ride)
Day 3) Baddichour, Surkhet to Ragham Karnali, Dailekh to Manma, Kalikot to Nagma, Kalikot. (12hrs bus ride)
Day 4) Nagma, Kalikot to Sinja, Jumla to Bhulbhule to Talcha, Mugu.(10 hrs bus ride)
– Talcha to Rara (3 hrs hike through Rara National Park)
Day 5) Sight seeing around Rara
– Rara to Murma top to Rara (6 hrs hike)
Day 6) Return back to Talcha (3 hrs hike)
– Talcha to Gothijeula-Sinja Vally, Jumla (4 hrs bus ride)
Day 7) Sinja Vally to Reghem Karnali, Dailekha (12 hrs bus ride)
Day 8) Dailekh to Birendra Nagar, Surkhet (7 hrs bus ride)
– We stayed there to visit Birendra Nagar, We could have taken bus to Kathmandu the same day.
Day 9) Surkhet to Kathmandu on Night Bus(14 hrs of bus ride)
Day 10) Back to Kathmandu
Another group of friends have been there via Moter Bike.

Day 1) Kathmandu to Butwal, Rupendhai (10hrs biking)
Day 2) Butwal, Rupendhai to Kohalpur, Banke (8 hrs biking)
Day 3) Kohalpur, Banke to Dungeshwor, Dailekh (10 hrs biking)
Day 4) Dungeshwor, Dailekh to Chhapre, Kalikot (10 hrs biking)
Day 5) Chhapre, Kalikot to Bhulbhule, Mugu
Day 6) Bhulbhule to Rara
Day 7) Sight seeing at Rara
Day 8) Sight seeing at Rara
Day 9) Rara- Bhulbhule
Day 10) Bhulbhule-Manma, Kalikot
Day 11) Manma, Kalikot to Kohalpur, Banke (13 hrs biking)
Day 12) Kohalpur, Banke to Bardiya (They decided to visit Bardia, which can be omitted.)
Day 13) Bardiya Narayangad, Chitwan
Day 14) Narayangad, Chitwan to Kathmandu
